A little over a year ago, Reuters’ newswire and the pages of the Wall Street Journal were chronicling multi-billion dollar deals that struck close to home: Thomson Corporation’s £7.9bn ($4.5bn) bid for Reuters and News Corp’s $5bn takeover of Dow Jones were landmarks of a busy 2007 for media mergers and acquisitions.
Now, as the same organisations chart a historic crisis sweeping Wall Street, the mood is very different.
