Zimbabwe signs security deal with Angola

Zimbabwe and Angola have signed a security co-operation agreement dramatically raising the political temperature in southern Africa as the region flounders in its response to President Robert Mugabe’s repressive rule.

The deal, which could lead to the supply of paramilitary forces to Zimbabwe, sends a powerful message that Mr Mugabe has backers in the region prepared to defend his regime.
