A period of comparative calm in Turkey was broken on Wednesday when 10 soldiers died in attacks in the country’s Kurdish south-east and police detained two suspected suicide bombers after an attempted attack in an Ankara university.
Nine soldiers were killed in the morning when a roadside bomb hit a tank and armoured vehicle in the province of Diyarbakir, Commander General Ilker Basbug told a news conference in the capital. Later in the day a soldier died under fire from militants in the province of Semdinli.
