Thai Democrats claim right to rule

Thailand’s opposition Democrat party has claimed the right to form the country’s next government but few analysts believe that the political turmoil that has divided the country is over.

The Democrats announced on Saturday that they had won the loyalty of 260 members of parliament, significantly more than the 221 they need to install Abhisit Vejjajiva, their 44-year-old Oxford-educated leader, as the new prime minister.
