Nuclear power is back on the agenda of Italy’s new centre-right government after its total rout of the Greens in last month’s parliamentary elections.

Claudio Scajola, development minister, on Thursday declared the government’s intention to restart construction of nuclear power plants by 2013, the scheduled end of its five-year term.
