WPP sets up Yahoo alliance

WPP has announced a two-fold alliance with Yahoo, days after Sir Martin Sorrell, chief executive of the advertising group expressed his disappointment that Microsoft’s offer for the internet company had not succeeded.

Mark Read, WPP strategy director, said its talks with Yahoo predated the Microsoft offer, and that the partnership did not prevent it from working with others. “We want to build strong relationships with Google, Microsoft and Yahoo,” he said.
