Smith & Nephew stumbles as Footsie edges 1.8% higher

Smith & Nephew was among the laggards as the FTSE 100 pushed to its highest level in nearly a fortnight.

S&N lost 1.5 per cent to 465p as Redburn Partners argued that orthopaedic device makers may be less defensive to economic turmoil than investors believe.
