Estonia leads Baltic downturn

The Estonian economy went into reverse in the first quarter of 2008, raising fears of a hard landing as the boom in the Baltic states fizzles out.

Estonia’s economy was one of the European Union’s fastest growing last year. In the first three months of this year, however, it contracted by 1.9 per cent.
