Australian PM promises to fight whaling

Anti-whaling activists threatened more action against Japan’s whaling fleet, after two protesters detained by the Japanese fleet in Antarctica’s Southern Ocean were released on Friday and transferred to an Australian vessel.

Kevin Rudd, Australia’s new Labor prime minister, on Thursday said his government would pursue all means to end commercial whaling by Japan and other countries, dismissing claims that Japanese hunting is for scientific purposes.
