Aviva capital concerns spark sector sell-off

Shares in UK life assurers plunged Thursday amid fresh concerns that they will be the next victims of the global financial crisis.

The sell-off was sparked by a slide into loss from Aviva, the UK’s biggest insurer, and concerns on its capital position after it maintained its dividend and future dividend guidance, in spite of deteriorating financial markets.
