Zapatero accentuates strong economy

José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero, the Spanish prime minister, will today deliver his first big assessment of the state of Spain's economy, in an attempt to deflect attention from recent setbacks in the fight against terrorism.

With only a month to go before municipal voting, and less than a year away from a general election, Mr Zapatero wants to accentuate the positive.
