Hassan Mohammed Karim, a slight youth in a dirty pink T-shirt and carrying a sack of heavy machine-gun bullets, was among a crowd of disgruntled amateur arms traders milling around the Sina'iy football stadium yesterday.
"Everyone wants to sell, but no one is buying from us," he says. "They are only buying from the big whales." He lifted up a bandolier of 7.62mm PKC machine-gun rounds, which he thinks should be worth $20 (€16, £11) - he says he got it from his brother. "There is money donated for these weapons, we hear about it on television. But the guards say, 'There is no money', or 'Everyone is gone, come back later'."
