NHS faces ‘unprecedented’ funding slowdown

The National Health Service is facing the biggest financial challenge in its 60-year history, the Institute for Fiscal Studies and the King’s Fund health think-tank warned on Sunday.

Even if the service is relatively protected compared with other departments from the coming public spending cuts, it will struggle to meet rising demand and maintain quality.
