Frist's push to confirm two judges sets scene for conflict

The pressure on Bill Frist will be intense this week. The Senate majority leader has made the approval of President George W. Bush's most controversial court nominees a priority.

Mr Frist's announcement on Friday that he would try to proceed with two of Mr Bush's most controversial candidates - Janice Rogers Brown and Priscilla Owen - sets the scene for a dramatic showdown this week.
