Chávez suffers election setback

Venezuela's opposition parties were yesterday celebrating important victories in Sunday's regional elections which saw the government of President Hugo Chávez lose some key states.

Both sides claimed victory but while the government secured a large majority of states, claiming 17 of 22 governorships, the opposition won the states that contain Venezuela's three largest cities and the election for mayor of Caracas.
