Charles Allen, the former chief executive of ITV, has been appointed as a senior adviser to the private equity arm of Goldman Sachs and will take a seat on the board of its main media investment, the European television producer Endemol.

Ynon Kreiz, the chief executive of Endemol, said: “It’s great to have him on the board. He is one of the more savvy people in the industry.”
