BP to slash onshore North Sea workers

BP will cut about 17 per cent of its onshore workforce for the North Sea, the group said in the first official announcement of changes within the wider restructuring plan announced this month by Tony Hayward, chief executive.

The group said it would lose about 350 jobs from a pool of 2,100 workers as part of plans to downsize from the North Sea, where its production has dropped by more than a third in three years.
