Eurozone lending rises

Eurozone borrowing by business grew last month at the fastest rate since the launch of the euro in 1999, indicating that the global credit squeeze has had little real impact so far, according to European Central Bank -figures.

The robustness of lending to non-financial corporations, which increased at an annual rate of 14.4 per cent in December, up from 14 per cent in November, highlighted the relative resilience of corporate activity.
