‘Shocking disparity’ in gender pay revealed

Women in some of the UK’s leading finance companies receive about 80 per cent less in performance-related pay than male colleagues, revealing a “shocking disparity” in earnings, an inquiry by the Equality and Human Rights Commission has found.

The inquiry, including data from 50 companies employing more than a fifth of the sector’s workforce, found nearly all women taking up new jobs in finance companies started on lower salaries than men.
