Democrats in move to tighten US trade regime

Democrats in the House of Representatives last night introduced a bill intended to toughen the enforcement of US trade laws, including more aggressive provisions targeting imports from "non-market economies" such as China.

The move by Charles -Rangel, chairman of the ways and means committee, and Sander Levin, who leads the trade subcommittee, marks an attempt to lay the groundwork for broader changes to US trade policy after the presidential election in November.
