A Maoist attack against two Indian Hindu priests in Kathmandu over the weekend opened a new rift in the fragile diplomatic relations between India and Nepal.
The Indian foreign ministry said a dozen Maoist cadres barged into the Pashupatinath temple in Kathmandu, where two high-caste Brahmins from Karnataka were conducting religious rituals and assaulted them. Nepal's Maoist party has denied any involvement.
