Mexico City offers free health cover

As the former capital of the Aztec empire, home to one of the world’s most celebrated anthropological museums and venue of a thousand daily street scenes to revive even the most deadened senses, Mexico City has not traditionally struggled to attract the tourists.

But in the aftermath of the A/H1NI flu virus outbreak, which has claimed the lives of 106 people in the country and devastated tourism, the city government has decided to offer holidaymakers free medical insurance – whether it be to cover migraine, a broken bone or even emergency heart surgery.
