Cypriot leaders to open key crossing

Prospects for a peace settlement in Cyprus brightened on Friday when the Greek and Turkish Cypriot leaders agreed to relaunch substantive talks after a four-year gap.

At a meeting in Nicosia, Demetris Christofias and Mehmet Ali Talat undertook to meet in three months’ time for “full-fledged” negotiations under United Nations auspices, according to a joint statement.
