Online innovator set to be FCC nominee

The formulation of telecommunications and internet policy in the US is set to undergo a generational shift with the nomination of the first candidate with both internet and venture capital experience to head the Federal Communications Commission.

Julius Genachowski, a long-time friend and former Harvard classmate of Barack Obama, president-elect, is due to be nominated to lead the regulatory body in one of the most important agency appointments for the new administration, according to two people familiar with the situation.
