Bulgaria, Hungary, Croatia to recognise Kosovo

Bulgaria, Hungary and Croatia dealt a major blow to Serbia's bid to overturn Kosovo's month-old independence by preparing on Wednesday to become the first neighbours to recognise the new republic.

The Republic of Macedonia, a neighbour to both Serbia and Kosovo, says it also wants to recognise the new breakaway state soon – an important move to placate its own restive ethnic Albanian minority of roughly 25 per cent, officials in Skopje say.
