US defence and aerospace groups began the third-quarter reporting season on an upbeat note after General Dynamics and Honeywell reported better-than-expected profits.
General Dynamics, the maker of land combat systems, warships and Gulfstream business jets, reported net earnings of $374m in the third quarter, or $1.84 per share, driven by strong demand for communications and intelligence systems and a booming market in corporate jets.
