Peter Chernin, president and chief operating officer of News Corporation, will take over Lachlan Murdoch's responsibilities at the global media company when the elder son (pictured) of Rupert Murdoch steps down at the end of August.

The only position that is expected to be replaced by someone else is that of publisher of the New York Post newspaper.
