Anger at plan to ban cigarette machines

Retailers attacked the Scottish government for pressing ahead with a ban on cigarette vending machines and tobacco displays in shops as part of its campaign to reduce smoking by children.

The Tobacco Retailers Alliance said the clampdown would see thousands of small shops suffer a loss of trade, do nothing to curb youth smoking and broke the government’s promise to help small businesses through the downturn.
