Darling calls for review of Isle of Man ties

Alistair Darling on Monday ruled out extending the government’s guarantee of UK bank deposits to cover the Isle of Man.

But, giving evidence to MPs on the Treasury select committee, the chancellor said that politicians and regulators should reconsider Britain’s relationship with the crown dependency following the furore over UK investors’ deposits in Manx-based institutions.
