EU balks at Lufthansa concessions

Lufthansa’s proposed acquisition of Austrian Airlines was looking increasingly shaky on Friday night, after European Union competition officials accused the German carrier of submitting new concessions that were inferior to its previous offer.

The European Commission also indicated that time had virtually run out for any further negotiations over those remedies, designed to address competition concerns on certain routes, if the carriers wanted a decision by the end of the month.
