A reduced research and development programme has helped trim losses at Alizyme, the biotechnology group, although investors were disappointed at the lack of new licensing deals.
Cetilistat, the company’s lead drug for the treatment of obesity, has already been licensed in Japan to Takeda Pharmaceuticals. However, the drug remains without a partner in both Europe and the US, unnerving equity analysts who believe the company is failing to exploit the full commercial potential of the drug. Alizyme said it would find US and European partners for the drug some time this year.
