Public do not see 'undoubted economic benefits' of migrants

Britain's willingness to absorb migrants, notably by opening its doors in 2004 to people from eastern Europe entering the European Union, have brought "undoubted economic benefits", John Reid, home secretary, said last year.

By helping to fill skills shortages and keeping a lid on wage inflation, immigrants have helped produce stronger economic growth.
