Consumer seat at EDF board to be abolished

The French government has decided to end years of tradition at EDF by abolishing the boardroom seat reserved for consumers at the state-controlled electricity group.

EDF’s government shareholder is insisting on a greater industrial presence on the board of the company, whose directors will meet on Sunday to decide the fate of Pierre Gadonneix, the group’s executive chairman.
