Jail for ‘linchpin’ of fake drugs network

One man was jailed on Monday for 4½ years and a further three people face custodial sentences following the conclusion of the UK’s most complex counterfeit medicines trial.

Ashish Halai, described by prosecutors as the British linchpin of an international network that smuggled more than £1.5m in fake drugs, was convicted at Kingston Crown Court at the end of a case lasting nine months.
