Minutes show Fed cautious on growth

Federal Reserve policymakers remained cautious on growth even as they marked up their forecasts at the past meeting – with some officials favouring increased asset purchases to speed recovery, minutes revealed on Wednesday.

While this was a minority view, only one policymaker favoured reducing asset purchases – leaving the committee as a whole with a dovish skew. With inflation fears muted, the minutes suggest, the Fed is still a long way from raising interest rates.
