Retailers to ramp up price cutting

Retailers are set to step up price cutting in the run-up to Christmas after a week of sales and promotions aimed at luring reluctant shoppers into stores.

The “guerrilla” sale run by Marks and Spencer this week caught the competition on the hop and sparked copy-cat discounting across the high street as rival retailers scrambled to compete with the UK’s biggest clothing chain. More is likely to come.
