Code system to help track US mortgages

US mortgages will be assigned permanent codes that investors can use to track payments and other credit-sensitive information in the latest move to boost confidence through greater transparency in securitisation markets.

Efforts by the American Securitisation Forum (ASF) to assign each mortgage a loan identification number code have already started, with over 11m mortgages now identified in this way.
