Overview: Dollar sinks but equities rise

US stocks finished strongly on Wednesday, boosted by positive corporate news and the expectation of rate cuts, with the dollar setting a record low against the euro for a fifth successive day.

Wall Street crowned a global equity market rally. Weak US durable goods data was shrugged aside by investors who expect the Federal Reserve will ease policy further to help the economy.
