U-turn likely for patients who ‘top-up’ drugs

The government is poised to rewrite rules that force patients to go entirely private if they want to buy cancer and other drugs that the NHS does not provide.

A big rewrite of the rules on NHS “top-ups” is on the way, and the issue will be at least partially addressed by Lord Darzi in his “next stage” health service review in the next few weeks.
