The price of polluting is expected to fall significantly on Monday with the publication of European Union data on carbon dioxide emissions.

The report from the European Commission is expected to show that industries in most member states emitted far less carbon dioxide than they were permitted to under the EU’s greenhouse gas emissions trading scheme.
