Tax spat freezes Italian-Swiss talks

Switzerland on Sunday said it was freezing talks with Rome on a double taxation treaty in retaliation against a heavy-handed Italian crackdown on tax evasion.

“The agreement was ready to be signed on our side,” said Hans-Rudolf Merz, finance minister and head of state this year under Switzerland’s rotating presidency.
