Republicans elect House leaders

Republicans in the House of Representatives on Friday rejected a plea from conservatives to overhaul the party’s leadership, voting instead to keep much of the current team in place.

John Boehner, now majority leader, will become minority leader when the new Congress convenes in January and Roy Blunt will be the minority whip. Both men were elected by wide margins in a closed-door vote of the Republican caucus.
