Eon staff to protest over job cuts threat

Thousands of Eon employees are expected to rally in front of the power company’s German headquarters on Thursday in protest at cutbacks and the threat of redundancies.

Verdi, the services trade union that is organising the Düsseldorf meeting, has warned that up to 6,000 jobs are at risk as Eon seeks to bring down costs and consolidate administrative functions.
