Plan to give drug groups direct public access

The pharmaceutical industry would have greater freedom to provide information on its medicines directly to patients across Europe under proposals endorsed on Thursday by EU officials, member states, drug companies and consumer groups.

Thursday’s concluding meeting of the “high-level pharmaceutical forum”, convened by the European Commission to find ways to boost competitiveness, called for enhanced “quality of information” to patients by “all the relevant players”.
