UBS results send Europe’s bourses down

Syngenta, the Swiss agrochemical group, defied downward markets on Wednesday to jump to the top of Europe’s bourses.

Although the crop protection producer reported worse-than-expected first-quarter results – mainly due to its exposure to a stronger dollar – price increases and growing demand for Syngenta’s products mean that it is still on track to meet this year’s targets.
