Shoppers fill basket with cheaper food

British consumers are changing their eating habits in an effort to bring down the price of their food bills – ditching croissants in favour of buttered toast and boiled rice for roast potatoes

Asda and J Sainsbury, two of Britain’s biggest supermarket chains, said on Friday that shoppers were ditching certain foodstuffs in favour of cheaper alternatives.
