‘Ever higher’: why commodity bulls are upbeat

As commodity markets have shot skywards this year, a chorus of Cassandras has cried “bubble”.

One whose warnings are unlikely to go unheeded is Warren Buffett, the influential US investor, who told last month's annual meeting of his Berkshire Hathaway group: "Like most trends, at the beginning it's driven by fundamentals [but] at some point speculation takes over."
