BHP Billiton chairman Don Argus marked his last London investor meeting by praising several chief executives who had served during his 10 years - with one exception.

The only individual not to be distinguished among "the most talented individuals I've ever met in my working career" by Mr Argus was the man he replaced as CEO after six months, Brian Gilbertson .
