Entrepreneurs answer Tory call to be MPs

As many as 1,000 business people are seeking to capitalise on popular dissatisfaction with conventional politicians by applying to become MPs, the Financial Times has learnt.

The mass mobilisation – which includes former Dragons’ Den panellist Rachel Elnaugh (pictured below) – reflects a belief among many entrepreneurs that Westminster politics needs fresh thinking from people with a track record in getting things done.
