Brown to repay £12,000 of his own expenses

Gordon Brown faced the humiliating prospect of repaying more than £12,000 ($19,000) of cleaning, laundry and gardening expenses deemed excessive by an independent review on Monday.

The prime minister is the most high-profile target of Sir Thomas Legg, who informed MPs of the results of his independent investigation into five years of parliamentary expenses claims.
